Can someone explain Jews to me and why they're rich or whatever?

I always hear people say that rich Jews run the world and run Hollywood. And that they're greedy and have more money then everyone. I don't know much about Jewish history besides the issues with Germans and Nazis or whatever. What is the history behind their wealth and power? I don't get it... And why does everyone hate them and say things like "stop being a Jew" oh are are Jewish people white or what? Thanks
