Solar power concentration?

There is a whole field of concentrated photovoltaic power. A number of ways have been considered to do this using either lenses or mirrors. Such an array typically involves very high quality photovoltaics and a tracking array and a power of 1000 suns is not unusual. High temperature is often what destroys equipment. Recent prototypes have captured the excess heat and attempt to use the solar thermal power in addition to the electrical potential.
